Detailed economic profile for Mid Sussex District Council, providing a data-driven foundation to their new economic strategy

We were commissioned by Mid Sussex to refresh their District Profile – a central repository of key indicators which underpins the strategy and policy work carried out by the economic development team. Through analysis of datasets from the Office for National Statistics, West Sussex County Council and private sector providers, we provided the council with a detailed understanding of the state of the district.

The profile was broken down into two main themes linked to the new Sustainable Economic Strategy to be produced: People and Place. The first theme examined metrics including health & wellbeing, deprivation, employment and education. The second looked at economic growth & productivity, sectoral analysis, residential & commercial property and transport, among others. Together, it provides a comprehensive understanding of the district, and allows economic development strategy to be targeted and tailored to current needs.

We were impressed by the team’s attention to detail and, most importantly, their ability to interpret and analyse the data in a meaningful way. Their insights added real value to the final outputs. Throughout the process, the team was responsive, knowledgeable, and readily available to discuss our queries. The resulting report and summary are not only comprehensive but also clear and easy to follow—striking a balance that is often difficult to achieve.
