Some evenings stay with you. The launch of Ulster Sports Legacy was one of them.
We’re delighted that Coast to Capital is a founding sponsor, and hearing stories from ambassadors Willie John McBride, Peter Canavan, Rosie Tennyson, Mike Bull and Gareth McAuley brought home exactly why this matters. Quite a line-up. Enough sporting talent to make the rest of us reconsider our school reports.
The setting was amazing: the fantastic Studio Ulster in Belfast, where virtual production technology helps bring film, television and gaming worlds to life. Thank you to CEO, Declan Keeney and the team.
As Communities Minister, Gordon Lyons MLA said: “At its best, sport brings people together.”
That was certainly the feeling in the room.
Ulster Sports Legacy will preserve and share these stories, celebrating achievement and encouraging the next generation to believe what’s possible.
For me, it’s a natural fit with Coast to Capital’s work: helping places build on their strengths and turn ambition into lasting opportunity.
Congratulations to Lady Mary Peters, Nigel Carr, Amanda Jones and everyone involved.
The Minister asked how today’s achievements become tomorrow’s inspiration. After an evening like that, you can see where it starts.
Very proud to be involved.
