Summary of Project
By redeveloping semi-redundant assets which require repurposing, renewal and refurbishment, Plumpton College can meet an increased demand for its courses, especially in the post COVID-19 period. The regeneration works will truly open up the Stanmer park site to the visitor economy and, in doing so, will significantly raise the College’s profile regionally. This further development will be critical to increase capacity to meet demand for increased trainees arising from government economic stimulation activities (e.g. the Kickstart programme). In doing so, it will provide the valuable training necessary to secure the longer term employment beyond the subsidised placements, supporting LEP priorities to maintain high levels of employment. This expansion is also timely in relation to meeting the ongoing need for the training of operators and supervisors to fill the gaps in the horticulture related business caused by the reduction in the availability of non-UK workers.
