Summary of Project
Reigate & Banstead Borough Council recognise the vital role the public sector needs to play in helping to promote economic growth, post COVID-19, to ensure our town centres continue to thrive and to prosper. Central to the Councils recovery plans is Marketfield Way, which is a flagship mixed use scheme in Redhill town centre.
The Council wants to help fully realise the potential of the town to become a prosperous urban centre within the region as well as, a major transport hub, and a dynamic retail, leisure and business destination, where local people choose to visit, live and work and where businesses choose to invest and grow.
Key to achieving this will require diversifying Redhill’s offer and becoming less reliant on retail. This will be achieved by providing reasons for people to visit and to stay longer such as places to eat and drink, leisure opportunities, use of community services and activities and events held in local venues and outside spaces. By increasing dwell time overall spend within the town will increase, benefiting local businesses.
