Summary of Project
The Centurion way path runs along the former Chichester to Midhurst Railway line. The railway has been closed since 1991 and previous extensions to the pathway have increased public use and as a result income for local businesses in the way of tourism.
Local Growth Funds will contribute to feasibility studies that will include various environmental impact studies. These will put in motion plans to create a further 5km cycle path, extending the existing pathway in order to further increase public use and local connections.
Planning Permission for the extension of the Centurion Way was granted in October 2019. The South Downs National Park Authority is now working to assemble a funding package to enable completion of the shared use path extension to Cocking and the South Downs Way.
